It’s no secret that the fastest and easiest way to establish or rebuild your credit is to have and properly maintain a credit card or two. Of course, not maintaining them is an easy way to destroy one’s credit completely or in an attempt to rebuild, it can serve to further damage one’s credit. All it takes to maintain a credit card is pay the bill on time. In full if you can, but the minimum payment at the very least. I’ve got a couple myself that I’ve been using to help rebuild my own credit. Now I’m looking for a couple of 0% credit cards, particularly one that does 0% balance transfers so that I can transfer the balances from my current cards to it and have only 1 payment monthly. The 0% would be a nice bonus, allowing me to pay the balance down without incurring more monthly finance charges for a few months. A lot of the 0% balance cards I’ve seen allow up to 12 months without finance charges, which is nice. That would be a nice card to have around the holidays. Use it strictly for holiday shopping and spend the next 12 months paying it off without paying a heap of finance charges. Sure that can usually only be done the first year, but imagine the savings.
