Halloween is past, Thanksgiving approaches and people are starting to contemplate their holiday decorating. Every year there are house fires that are started by bad Christmas lights. Usually on the tree. Too many lights plugged into one outlet, and bam you have electrical overload and a fire. Sure the Mythbusters tried to create a tree fire with too many lights and failed, but somehow it still happens every year. Family safety is one reason I’d love to invest in some LED Christmas tree lighting. LEDs use less power, don’t heat up nearly as much and last at least twice as long as regular incandescent lights. They cost a bit more, but most people end up replacing their cheap incandescent lights every other year (at least. LEDs last longer, so if you buy 1 new strand every year, at $5 a pop the $18 for a strand that will should last 5 years or more is definitely worth it. Drawing less electricity means that the electric bill would be lower, and there would be less chance of an outlet overload. Less of a fire risk. LEDs are also better for the environment, which is a good thing. A little sparkle and shine for the holidays that’s green. I’d love to get some to decorate outside as well, to be honest. They’re made in a way that prevents moisture from getting in — 1 piece instead of 2 like regular Christmas lights. So they can be used outdoors and won’t get damaged no matter how much wind, rain, snow and ice they endure. They have different shapes and sizes (even some terribly cute snowflake shaped lights) and all kinds of multicolored and solid colored strands.
